This initiative, which seeks to involve citizens in environmental protection through a web platform, was conceived as part of the practical exercises of the “Sustainable and Resilient Company” course, organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the German Agency for International Technical Cooperation (GIZ), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Ministry of Industry, Trade and MSMEs (MICM) and INFOTEP.

Through the interactive and dynamic portalciudadlonuestro.com we seek to “motivate the residents of our destinations to act through community participation and responsibly assume their role as caretakers of what is ours by identifying environmental situations, which will generate key information to act and plan, and achieve a better future,” indicated Luis Santana, from the Tourism and Productive Cluster of the Barahona province, co-creator of the project together with Ambra Attus, director of the Tourism Cluster of the Puerto Plata destination.

 The tool provides that each complaint automatically reaches the Green Line, of the Directorate of Social Participation of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, allowing timely follow-up, in addition to the generation of statistical reports, investigations and articles of interest based on the data. and indicators collected through different collection methods, useful for both the public and private sectors.

By combining technology with social commitment, this initiative has the potential to create a significant impact on the society of Puerto Plata, Barahona and beyond its borders, since according to reports, in a second phase it is expected to also cover socio-economic causes. cultural and social, and also expand to other geographical areas of the country.
