The Municipal Tourism and Culture Entity of Mar del Plata reported the official numbers of arrivals that occurred in the city during January. Bernardo Martin, President of EMTURYC, highlighted that “during January, 1,405,699 tourists arrived.”
“ The accumulated income from December 1 to January 31 is 2,314,979 tourists, 2.9% less than the same period in 2023/24. In the midst of the economic context that we are going through, Mar del Plata continues to be the most chosen by young people and families. There were nights when there were more than 200,000 people enjoying the different proposals that the private sector developed in different spaces in the city,” he reviewed.
"As for global hotel occupancy, during January it was 67.3%, with a daily average of 33,370 occupied places, out of a total of 49,400 available places. The weekend of the 20th and 21st stood out with a peak of 82 .5% global occupancy,” said the head of EMTURYC .

“In relation to the means of transportation used by visitors to get to Mar del Plata during January, 81.5% did so by car; 13.8% by bus; 3.1% did so by rail and 1.6% by plane, the latter medium presenting an increase of 9.9% in the number of visitors who arrived, due to the increase in the frequencies of Aerolíneas Argentinas flights. and the incorporation of Flybondi with the AEP - MDQ route,” he added.
