“This growth compared to the previous cruise season shows us that the City of Buenos Aires is increasingly better positioned in international tourism. That is the result of a whole year of hard work together with Visit Buenos Aires promoting the destination to potential visitors and holding meetings with cruise companies. These numbers are of great relevance not only for the economic development of our city, but also for the generation of direct and indirect jobs,” said Valentín Díaz Gilligan, president of the Tourism Entity of the City of Buenos Aires.

Finally, the report anticipates that the average daily expense per foreign cruise passenger will be $109.10, while that of Argentine visitors will be $55. In both cases, the impact represents an increase of 20% compared to the previous season. It is worth mentioning that the measurement considers expenses on accommodation, gastronomy, internal transportation, shopping, domestic flights, excursions and shows. Likewise, it is worth mentioning that between January and September 2023, 2,153,975 direct and indirect jobs were registered in the Buenos Aires tourism industry.
