The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) celebrates 20 years of consecutive participation in the 43rd edition of the ANATO Tourist Showcase, which will be held from February 28 to March 1, 2024, at the Center of events and conventions in Bogotá, Corferias.

Peru returns to the contest with a large and select delegation of 20 tourism companies that will exhibit the most memorable experiences to experience the richness and beauty of this nation, in the culture, nature, adventure, urban and gastronomic segments. A destination that invites tourists to visit its unique and diverse heritage, which holds priceless treasures.

Each region of Peru is distinguished by its ancestral traditions, its history and its famous gastronomy, hailed as the best in the world at the World Travel Awards 2023.

Lima and Cusco being the regions traditionally most visited by Colombians, on this occasion, Peru invites you to also discover other exceptional destinations such as Ica, Arequipa, Puno, Loreto, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Ancash, regions that are conquering every day the hearts of travelers from all over the world with experiences full of authenticity and mysticism that can only be experienced in Peru.

During its participation in ANATO 2024, Peru will display all its magic, color and artistic expressions in a 216 m2 stand, located in the International Pavilion (stand 2704) of Corferias. The delegation led by PROMPERÚ will be made up of tourism operators that include nature, cultural, adventure, experiential and gastronomic experiences in their offer. There will also be the participation of train lines and hotel chains with high quality services.

The Peruvian sustainable tourism offer will also be present through hotels committed to respect for the environment and tours with experiences that allow the traveler to learn about the lifestyle of the Andean and Amazon communities, learn their customs and daily activities, as well as how to enjoy local cuisine. All of these tours make tourists aware of the importance of communities that preserve their ancient practices and make their visits contribute to their preservation.

During the event, cooking classes will also be held, in which attendees can learn to prepare emblematic dishes, such as the iconic Peruvian ceviche or innovative proposals such as quinoa with pesto, as well as cocktails based on the flagship drink, pisco, combined with Colombian inputs, such as corozo. They will also be able to appreciate different cultural representations of Peruvian folklore, such as the typical dances that captivate visitors so much.

In addition to these activities, spectators will be able to participate in a video booth experience, which consists of video recording while the camera rotates 360° around a platform. To accompany this experience, there will be a background of a natural landscape of Peru, which will allow visitors to take away a charming souvenir from the neighboring country.

It is important to highlight that last year, Peru managed to make more than 1,000 commercial appointments with a business potential of more than USD 8 million at the conclusion of the ANATO 2023 Tourist Showcase.

The number of Colombian travelers to Peru grows

Colombia currently occupies fourth place as the country that sends tourists to Peru (after Chile, the United States and Ecuador), making it an important market for Peruvian tourism. In 2023, Peru received a total of 2,524,658 international tourists, of which 146,423 were Colombians, which means an increase of 10% compared to 2022 (133,035 travelers from Colombia). This is equivalent to a market share of 6% of the total foreign arrivals to Peru.

This increase has occurred in part, thanks to the proximity and good air connectivity that the two nations currently enjoy, with 4 airlines flying directly between main cities.
