Known for its rich culture, history and gastronomy, Peru will be present at the World Travel Market Latin America (WTM-LA), the  main event for the travel and tourism industry in Latin America that will take place from April 15 to 17  in the city of Sao Paulo, reported the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ)

20 Peruvian co-exhibitors will be participating, belonging to  agencies, operators, DMCs and local hotel chains, who will bring their best products and opportunities to the event. They will be accompanied by representatives of PROMPERÚ and will be located at stand J51 of the Expo Center Norte, where this important fair will take place.

The companies that will participate are Braidy Wonders Sac; Carousel.Travel/ Bookingmotor.Com; Condor Travel; DMC Peru Agency; Fiesta Tours Peru / Peru Luxury Journeys; Gaston Sacaze GHL Hotels Peru (Sonesta/Radisson Resort Paracas); Hilton Garden Inn Cusco; Hotel Las Dunas; Hacienda Del Peru Hotels; Ile Tours Peruvian Travel Corporation Eirl; Inca Rail; Lima Tours; Peru A Travel; Peru Travel Operator – Wholesaler; PTS Peru; Salkantay Trekking; Sun Gate Tours; Trip 360.Travel; Dmc Peru; and Vipac Travel.

Peru arrives in Brazil with a delegation that will show its tourist news, among which adventure experiences such as hikes to the Humantay lagoon and trekking routes through the Salkantay snow-capped mountain, both in Cusco, community tourism programs and wellness experiences stand out. .

It also seeks to promote the city of Huaraz, located  in the Ancash region , whose main attraction is  the Cordillera Blanca, considered the highest tropical mountain range in the world, which has roads that lead to beautiful lagoons and glaciers. Starting in July of this year, this Peruvian region will receive weekly flights from Lima that will allow more Brazilian tourists and tourists from around the world to arrive at this fabulous destination.

These strategies aim to further increase the number of Brazilians who visit Peru. Currently, Brazil is the fourth largest source of tourists to the neighboring country in Latin America, and the fifth worldwide. In 2023 alone, 130,759 Brazilian visitors arrived, 46% more compared to the same period in 2022.

In addition, Brazil currently leads the list of Latin American countries that are close to reaching the pre-pandemic numbers of Brazilian tourists who arrived in Peru (193,898 visitors in 2019).  In March 2024, Brazil reached 93% of the number of tourist arrivals that was achieved that same month in 2019.

According to  PROMPERÚ, among the factors behind these advances are the increase in air connectivity, with an availability of 199 direct flights per month, in addition to the success of the Peru Week Brazil campaign, whose sales  exceeded US$ 4.6 million, and the training actions promoted with travel agents and operators in Brazil.

“We want to show that Peru has travel options for all tastes, profiles and ages of tourists. In the Arequipa region we have great attractions, such as its historic center and the Colca Canyon. Puno surprises with the incredible beauty of Lake Titicaca and the ancestral communities that inhabit its islands. Now we are promoting Huaraz, where Brazilians will be able to enjoy its incredible landscapes and adventure experiences. There is also Lima, with its magnificent gastronomy and its internationally awarded restaurants. And in Cusco we have Machupicchu, our wonder of the world, and archaeological sites that provoke admiration,” indicated the deputy director of Receptive Tourism of PROMPERÚ, Elva Yáñez.

In addition to its participation in the WTM-LA fair, Peru will be the guest country at the “Bem-recever” dinner, organized by the international tourism association Skal, because the Peruvian city of Cusco will host the next  Skal World Congress. , in 2025. In this way, Peru is also positioned as a destination for large international events.
