In passenger experience, the airline improved the infrastructure of its VIP Lounges and massified its individual boarding entertainment system; Likewise, it expanded its route network, consolidated its fleet renewal process, which included the start of operations of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and initiated the digital transformation strategy to optimize the processes for the benefit of the customer.
For its part, in terms of business units, during these five years the holding company has consolidated its revenue diversification strategy with the acquisition of a share percentage in 2014 of Aerounión, a Mexican freighter; the acquisition in 2017 of SAI, a company specializing in airport services; and the creation in 2018 of CAE, a company that will provide training services to pilots and co-pilots through flight simulation centers.
The development of the company during these five years is evident in data such as the growth of passengers transported from 24.6 million passengers in 2013 to 29.4 million at the end of 2017. On the other hand, the airline had 155 aircraft in its fleet in 2013, and for the 2Q of 2018 the consolidated fleet was located in 189 aircraft. For its part, in terms of business units, highlights the growth of the LifeMiles loyalty program partners, which in 2013 had 5.4 million and by 2018 already exceeds 8.3 million frequent travelers.
To commemorate its first five years on the NYSE, Avianca Holdings performed the traditional "bell ring" that closes the Wall Street trading day.
