Contour Airlines launches service to the Caribbean with flights from San Juan and St. Thomas to Dominica

Smyrna, Tennessee, August 27, 2025. Contour Airlines announced the launch of nonstop flights to the Caribbean connecting Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, with Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) in Dominica.

These flights, which will launch in September, will be operated with 30-seat ERJ-135 regional aircraft, offering increased legroom, complimentary refreshments, and in-flight service. The initiative marks the airline's official arrival in the Caribbean market and represents a historic opportunity to improve accessibility in the region.

“We are delighted to bring the Contour brand, a reliable and comfortable jet service, to the Caribbean. Launching service in Dominica is an exciting step for us,” said Ben Munson, the company’s president.

Strategic connectivity for the region

The new routes will offer the only direct jet service from Dominica to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, facilitating international connections through San Juan.

Dominica's Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, emphasized that this link "strengthens the ties between our islands and opens new doors for tourism, trade, and investment." Dominica's Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles-Pemberton, stated that the agreement "improves access for visitors, residents, and business travelers, aligning with efforts to promote sustainable tourism."

From the Virgin Islands, Port Authority Executive Director Carlton Dowe stated that the new connection "highlights the importance of regional collaboration and anticipates greater economic and cultural opportunities."

In Puerto Rico, the director of the Tourism Company, Willianette Robles Cancel, hailed the announcement as "a key step in the recovery of intra-Caribbean capacity and the consolidation of San Juan as a hub for international connections."

Dominica – San Juan: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, departure 9:00 am, arrival 10:25 am (from September 25).

San Juan – Dominica: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, departure 4:15 pm, arrival 5:40 pm (from September 25).

Dominica – St. Thomas: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, departure 9:00 am, arrival 10:15 am (from September 27).

St. Thomas – Dominica: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, departure 3:00 pm, arrival 4:15 pm (from September 24).

With this launch, Contour Airlines becomes the only airline to offer nonstop flights between Dominica and the U.S. Virgin Islands, expanding travel options for residents and visitors throughout the Caribbean.
