With 3,169,082 foreign tourist arrivals in Chile, tourism authorities provided a positive assessment of the figures for the first half of 2025. These represent a positive change of 32.6% compared to the same period in 2024. When compared to 2022 and 2023, the percentage changes are even greater, reaching 458.5% and 72.9% respectively.

Undersecretary of Tourism Verónica Pardo noted that “looking at the evolution of the last four years, we see that inbound tourism has experienced significant and sustained growth. In 2022, we welcomed just over half a million visitors in the first half of the year; today, that figure exceeds 3.1 million. This speaks to a sector that has recovered strongly and continues to consolidate itself as an economic engine for the country. These numbers are a sign of the dynamism of our industry and the confidence that Chile generates as a tourist destination, which motivates us to continue working on sustainability, diversifying experiences, and improving connectivity so that more visitors continue to choose our country.”

In the first half of 2025, the nationalities with the highest share of international tourist arrivals were Argentina (55.3%) or 1,751,658; Bolivia (7.9%) (251,355); and Brazil (7.9%) (251,210).

Sernatur's national director, Cristóbal Benítez, stated that "this growth in inbound tourism is consistent with our projections for 2025, when 5.7 million arrivals are expected. However, considering the cumulative figure through June, this projection could increase." Regarding the performance of the Argentine market, the authority indicated that it "continues to be the main source market for tourists to Chile. In fact, the cumulative figure from January to June 2025 shows a positive variation of 78.8%, which corresponds to 772,000 more Argentine tourist arrivals than the same period in 2024."

Arturo Merino Benítez Airport was the airport that registered the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals during the first half of the year, with 1,048,320; followed by Cristo Redentor Airport (Los Libertadores) with 706,903; Cardenal Antonio Samoré Airport with 233,252; Colchane Airport with 167,630; and Pino Hachado Airport with 123,972 arrivals.
