Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that the country exceeded all projections for the summer vacation period, which runs from July 14 to August 31, by recording historic indicators that reflect the confidence of domestic and international tourists.

"These results are the fruit of collective effort, of the coordination of the three levels of government, but above all, of the country's population, which makes Mexico a unique destination capable of offering first-class tourism services. As President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has pointed out, tourism must be a tool for building well-being and shared development, always with the participation of communities and the support of institutions," he emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) explained that, during this period, tourism consumption amounted to 829 billion pesos (mdp), representing a 6.3 percent increase compared to 2024.

Likewise, 21 million 459 thousand tourists stayed in hotel rooms in Mexico, a figure equivalent to a 4.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, national hotel occupancy reached 63 percent, 2.8 percentage points higher than in 2024.

He emphasized that during the current administration, community tourism will be consolidated, a model that promotes the direct participation of local communities in tourism offerings, with the goal of ensuring that the economic and social benefits are distributed equitably.

Rodríguez Zamora celebrated the participation of all three levels of government in the 2025 Summer Vacation Operation, as well as the coordinated work of the Green Angels, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), the Navy, the National Guard, and others.
