What does it mean for Bogotá to be present at this ICCA event?
ICCA is one of the pioneers and leaders in the meetings industry worldwide. Participating in this event is crucial for Bogotá because meetings tourism not only generates a significant economic impact, but also a social and environmental one. These activities allow for identifying the needs of organizers and strengthening the entire value chain of the sector, consolidating the city as a robust destination with a specific offering for international events.
How do you rate the current situation in relation to the objectives set at the beginning of the season?
The situation is very positive. The experience of visitors who come to the city and return demonstrates Bogotá's consolidation as a meeting destination. Thanks to promotion and coordination with local businesses, we have managed to attract events that ensure a solid second half of the year. Currently, in October and November, the event venues are practically full, reflecting the importance of this industry as a driver of the regional economy.
What recent and upcoming events would you highlight in Bogotá?
Among the most relevant upcoming events are: the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP), from November 1st to 6th, which will be held at the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, bringing together leaders and specialists from around the world to share knowledge and build alliances on issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights. The 38th WBO World Convention, in October, which brings together champions, coaches, and sponsors and, for the first time, is open to the general public in Bogotá. And World Cities Day 2025, on October 31st, where Bogotá will be the official host city, bringing together international leaders, local governments, and private sector stakeholders to discuss sustainable urban development strategies.
How important is it for Bogotá to host these events?
These events showcase the city's commitment to sustainable development, health, sports, and social inclusion. They also consolidate Bogotá as a strategic destination for international congresses and conventions, strengthening its infrastructure, local capacities, and economy, while also establishing the city as a benchmark in the meetings industry in Latin America.
