The president of the Fuegian Tourism Institute, Dante Querciali, attended the 173rd Assembly of the Federal Tourism Council (CFT), held in San Juan. The meeting brought together national and provincial authorities to define strategies to strengthen tourism in the country, with an emphasis on the upcoming tourist weekend in October and the promotional activities planned for the International Tourism Fair (FIT).

The meeting was led by the Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports of the Nation, Daniel Scioli; the president of the CFT (Cultural and Cultural Center), Valentín Díaz Gilligan; the Minister of Culture and Sports of San Juan, Guido Romero; and the president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT), Laura Teruel. The event was closed by Governor Marcelo Orrego.

Querciali emphasized the importance of this space, "where we address issues of interest across all provinces and meet with our peers to define courses of action for the remainder of the year, with a focus on summer."

Regarding the FIT, which will begin on September 27, he noted that Tierra del Fuego will feature the participation of provincial providers in the comprehensive promotion of the End of the World destination, with proposals that include the attractions and services of Ushuaia, Tolhuin, and Río Grande.

Prior to the event, the Offer Update Sessions and Business Roundtables will be held, jointly organized by the Fuegian Tourism Institute, the Tierra del Fuego Chamber of Tourism, the Fuegian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi, and JetSmart.

During the meeting, the National Undersecretariat of Tourism, through its Tourism Quality Department, awarded distinctions to 251 public and private tourism organizations from 22 jurisdictions that met the standards of the Argentine Tourism Quality System (SACT 2024), including Tierra del Fuego, recognized for its excellence in services.

Likewise, the extension of the Aerolíneas Argentinas promotion for foreign tourists was announced, allowing them to pay between $50 and $100 for domestic flights to various destinations in the country. It was also agreed to submit a note to the Chief of Staff of the Nation requesting a schedule of tourist holidays for 2026 in order to facilitate sector planning.

In this context, Querciali emphasized that "it's very important to have this type of promotion, especially for a destination as distant as ours, because it encourages international tourists to choose us." He also highlighted the efforts made to position Tierra del Fuego on travelers' itineraries, particularly during the summer season.

Finally, he praised the assembly as a space for joint work among the provinces and highlighted the role of the meetings between representatives of the Patagonian region integrated into the Patagonia Entity, where visions are shared and strategies are outlined to promote the destinations of the southern part of the country.
