How did you prepare to participate in this Summit, and what results have you seen from your interactions with meeting planners?
ICCA is one of our most important partners in Barranquilla, because we understand the importance of the meetings industry for regional development. At ProBarranquilla, a private entity that works hand in hand with the public sector, we recognize that associative and corporate events generate a significant economic impact in the city. For this participation, we brought all our promotional tools, both for strategic investment sectors such as logistics, transportation, and energy, and for the associative sphere, especially medical-scientific exchange.
What infrastructure does Barranquilla offer meeting planners today?
We are a Caribbean city in northern Colombia, with a warm climate of 33 degrees Celsius year-round, making it attractive for many events. We have exhibition halls with capacity for up to 7,000 people and a first-class hotel offering, with brands like Marriott, Estelar, and GHL, capable of hosting large-scale events. Barranquilla is well-equipped to accommodate major logistics needs, backed by its experience organizing the second largest carnival in the world. In addition, we have national and international air connectivity that facilitates the arrival of visitors.
Besides this meeting in Medellín, what other promotional plans do you have on the agenda?
This year, we participated in Fiexpo and various business meetings with ProColombia in Mexico and Bogotá. We are currently participating in the ICCA Summit and will be at FITA in Argentina in the coming weeks. We have also confirmed our presence at IMEX Las Vegas and, as planned, at IBTM World in Barcelona. To close out the year, we plan to participate in a business meeting organized by Meetings Cartagena.
