The Board of Directors of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced the appointment of Gloria Guevara Manzo as interim CEO of the global organization.
Greg O'Hara, Chairman of the WTTC Board of Directors, welcomed Guevara Manzo and acknowledged her extensive experience in the industry, highlighting her leadership, global vision, and experience in the public and private sectors.
Gloria Guevara, for her part, thanked the industry for their trust and assured that the upcoming global summit in Rome will be an international benchmark in promoting sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism.
Gloria Guevara made history by becoming the first woman and first Latin American to lead the WTTC as President and CEO. During her previous tenure, she organized key events such as the first Global Forum on Environment and Climate Action in Travel & Tourism in New York, various Regional Leaders Forums, and WTTC global summits in Spain, Argentina, and Cancún. The latter, held in 2021, was the sector's first international event since the pandemic, with the participation of leaders from more than 60 countries.
In addition to her experience at the WTTC, Guevara has held senior positions such as Special Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia and Secretary of Tourism of Mexico. In the private sector, she was CEO of Sabre Mexico and has served on the boards of companies such as HSBC Mexico, American Express GBT, Grupo Arsenale, and Playa Hotels & Resorts.
She has also served as Special Advisor on Government Affairs at the Harvard University School of Public Health and is a member of the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Agenda Council on the Future of Travel and Tourism.
