Under the theme "Airports Define Connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean," the conference will focus on the sector's challenges and opportunities. Discussions will include concession models, airport certification, ground handling, air cargo transportation, and the state of regional connectivity, especially in the Caribbean.
The opening will be led by prominent figures from the government and aviation sectors, including:
Senator Eli Zakour, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Trinidad and Tobago.
Aaron Henry, President of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
Monika Infante, President of the Board of Directors of ACI-LAC and CEO of Aerodom.
Christopher Barks, ICAO NACC Regional Director.
Dr. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.
In addition to thematic panels, the meeting will include the ACI-LAC General Assembly and a closed-door Caribbean Ministerial Summit, focusing on strategies to improve air connectivity for small island markets.
Key topics include:
Connectivity in the Caribbean: The challenges of market fragmentation and the importance of aviation as a key driver for tourism and regional economic development will be analyzed.
Air transport concentration: Experts and governments will discuss how to strengthen competitiveness, expand connectivity options, and consolidate local routes.
Resilient infrastructure: The need to prepare airports for extreme weather events will be a key focus, addressing operational safety and risk mitigation.
Airports as business drivers: The role of airports as investment hubs, job creators, and drivers of international trade will be highlighted.
“The ACI-LAC Annual Conference 2025 will be a space to understand how airports in our region are facing current challenges. This year, we will focus on the Caribbean, where flying is not just an option, but a necessity. We are convinced that the topics discussed will help develop real solutions and consolidate this meeting as the most important for exchanging experiences in the airport industry,” said Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.
