Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, September 9, 2025. — In an event marking a milestone for the state's aeronautical industry, Pablo Lemus Navarro, Governor of Jalisco, led the presentation of five new Volaris air routes and celebrated the addition of the airline's 150th aircraft to its Guadalajara-based fleet.
The new routes will strengthen the state's national and international connectivity with direct flights from Guadalajara to Durango, Zihuatanejo, Puebla, Villahermosa, and Bogotá, Colombia.
Accompanied by executives from Volaris and the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), the president emphasized that these investments consolidate Jalisco as a strategic hub for the aeronautical, tourism, hotel, and restaurant industries.
During the presentation, Lemus Navarro announced that, in conjunction with the GAP (National Aeronautical Administration), the Tlajomulco de Zúñiga City Council, and the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), they are working to create the state's first Aeronautical University, with the goal of training specialized technicians and generating a knowledge and innovation hub.
He also celebrated Volaris' commitment to establish its Aircraft Maintenance Center in Guadalajara, which will bring new jobs and greater economic dynamism to the region.
"Today, hearing Volaris' commitment to establish this maintenance center in Jalisco, at Guadalajara International Airport, in two stages, is extraordinary news. This maintenance base is welcome," the Governor emphasized.
During the ceremony, the airline officially unveiled its 150th aircraft, a milestone that strengthens its operational capacity and reaffirms its leadership in the domestic airline market, with its strategic headquarters in Guadalajara.
Volaris currently operates 57 routes in Jalisco, of which 48 depart from Guadalajara and 9 from Puerto Vallarta. It has approximately 55% of available seats at Guadalajara International Airport, operating an average of 90 flights daily.
Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Jalisco's Secretary of Tourism, highlighted that the state has two of the five best-connected airports in the country and that 27 new routes have been inaugurated in the first 276 days of the current administration.
For his part, Enrique J. Beltranena, President and CEO of Volaris, noted that the presentation of the 150th aircraft is a reaffirmation of the airline's leadership in Mexico and, particularly, in Guadalajara:
"This event represents a reaffirmation of our leadership in Mexico, especially in Guadalajara and in this dynamic state of Jalisco, which has been the strategic pillar of our company's growth from the beginning," he stated.
Meanwhile, Raúl Revuelta, CEO of GAP, recognized Volaris as a strategic partner in the growth of the state's airport infrastructure, highlighting that this step marks a key moment for Guadalajara International Airport.
The event was attended by institutional and aeronautical industry leaders, including Mauro Garza Marín, General Coordinator of Economic Growth and Development of Jalisco; Holger Blankenstein, Executive Vice President of Volaris; and Laurent Bayer, Vice President of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean at Airbus.
With this announcement, Jalisco reaffirms its leadership in air connectivity and strengthens its role as a driver of economic and tourism development in Mexico.
