Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that between January and July of this year, foreign currency income from international visitors amounted to $21.682 billion, representing an increase of 6.8 percent compared to 2024 and 42.4 percent compared to 2019.
"These figures reflect the confidence international visitors have in our country. Let us continue working—through both public and private initiatives—to consolidate tourism as a pillar of national development, generating employment, well-being, and Shared Prosperity in all territories," he declared.
According to the International Traveler Survey, published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 27.7 million international tourists entered the country during this period; that is, 7.2 percent more than in 2024 and 5.5 percent more than in 2019.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that, in July alone, there was a 12.3 percent increase in the number of travelers arriving compared to the same month in 2024, reaching a total of 8,425,420 people.
The data presented this Thursday also highlights that, during the first seven months of the year, 55.8 million international visitors entered the country, a figure that represents a 13.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Secretary Rodríguez Zamora explained that the average spending by tourists arriving by air continues to rise and that between January and July 2025 it reached $1,269, which represents a 7.1 percent increase over the previous year and a 24.5 percent increase over 2019.
She also stated that between January and July of this year, 6.61 million foreign women arrived in our country by air, 1.7 percent more than in the same period in 2024.
"It's time for women to recognize their role as travelers, drivers of local economies, and promoters of Mexico's cultural riches. These figures confirm that more and more women are choosing our country as a destination, which motivates us to continue working on public policies with a gender perspective that guarantee inclusion and well-being in every tourist experience," she stated.
On the other hand, the head of Tourism in Mexico highlighted that, during this period, 6.6 million cruise passengers arrived at the country's various ports, which represented an increase of 9.5 percent compared to 2024 and 22.9 percent compared to 2019.
He emphasized that foreign currency earnings from cruise ship visitors reached $553.3 million, up 11.0 and 51.5 percent compared to 2024 and 2019, respectively.
“Cruise tourism maintains sustained growth, confirming the diversification of the tourism offering and Mexico's ability to compete globally. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo's administration remains committed to bringing development to port communities, strengthening the regional economy, and positioning the country as a global leader in hospitality and sustainability,” he concluded.
