In this context, the Vice Ministry of Tourism awarded the "Safe Establishments for Children and Adolescents" distinction to 19 tourist accommodations in the province of Guayas. This initiative, a pioneer in Ecuador, seeks to safeguard the safety and well-being of minors in the travel and tourism sector.

This distinction highlights the commitment of these accommodations to preventing human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, and all forms of violations of the rights of priority groups. Of the recognized establishments, 16 are located in Guayaquil and three (3) are located in General Villamil Playas, reflecting a joint effort between the public and private sectors to strengthen safe, responsible, and humane tourism in the province of Guayas.

Tourism Minister Mateo Estrella emphasized that the protection of children and adolescents in the tourism sector is not only a moral duty, but also an international obligation assumed by the country by signing the World Tourism Organization's Global Code of Ethics for Tourism. He also noted that "when we strengthen responsible and protected tourism, we weaken the social foundations of crime. Tourism creates opportunities, fosters inclusion, and makes our destinations international benchmarks of safety and trust," he concluded.

For his part, Mario Morán, OUR Rescue's country manager, highlighted the intervention process in Ecuador and the support provided to state institutions within his area of operation, confirming that the organization will continue working together with government entities for the well-being of minors. Meanwhile, Ricardo León, Sales Manager at the Double Tree Hotel, spoke about the accommodation establishments' commitment to addressing crime and the best practices they have implemented.

With this delivery, Ecuador reaffirms its commitment to continue working alongside the private sector, state institutions, and international cooperation to ensure sustainable, ethical, and safe tourism for all.
