Sernatur announces Alejandra Casanova Henríquez as the new authority in the Maule Region

The institution's new regional authority will take office on September 22, 2025

The National Tourism Service announces the appointment of Alejandra Casanova Henríquez as its regional director for the Maule Region. The new Sernatur official is an architect with a track record that has established her as a leading figure in urban planning and management, citizen security, and public policy design.

Casanova, who has worked for two decades in public service, in the Undersecretariat of Crime Prevention, the Municipality of Vicuña, and the Regional Government of Coquimbo, assumed her position on Monday, September 22, after participating in the Senior Public Management System competition, being selected by the Civil Service, and being selected from a shortlist by the national leadership of Sernatur.

Alejandra Casanova Henríquez has also led international consulting projects for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Uruguay and Brazil, focusing on situational violence prevention and territorial governance.

After assuming her position, the new regional director of Sernatur stated, “Taking on this challenge is an honor and a motivating responsibility. The Maule is a region with extraordinary tourism potential; showcasing our people, culture, heritage, and territory, expressed in its many destinations from the mountains to the sea, inspires our visitors to enjoy unique experiences. Our commitment is to continue positioning ourselves both nationally and internationally, working closely with municipalities, service providers, companies in the sector, communities, and public stakeholders. Tourism is a collective endeavor, and we must consolidate it as an essential pillar for the economic, social, and cultural development of our region.”

In parallel to her technical and managerial work, the new director of Sernatur Maule has also taught at universities, sharing her experience in urban planning and social participation with new generations of architects.

In this way, the National Tourism Service continues to strengthen regional tourism teams, which work to boost this important economic sector for the development of our country.
