An evening that brought together more than 200 people, including national and departmental authorities, tour operators, business leaders, and the media, establishing itself as a meeting point for the entire sector.
The day began with Daniel Castro, who addressed the World Tourism Organization's 2025 motto: "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation."
At the outset, CAMTUR President Marina Cantera highlighted the importance of collective work and the human value that underpins tourism:
“Because behind all of this are people. There are the workers who greet tourists with a smile every day; the entrepreneurs who take risks and create; the young people who see tourism as an opportunity for development; and the communities that understand that opening up to visitors is also a way to grow. That is the human wealth that sustains this activity and the reason we celebrate today.”
The Vice President of the Republic and President-in-Office, Carolina Cosse, highlighted the strategic role of the sector:
“Tourism is a fundamental pillar of Uruguay's workforce and should be considered a key tool for development.”
Tourism Minister Pablo Menoni highlighted "the commitment and professionalism of CAMTUR's current management," emphasizing that it is "a team that has demonstrated responsibility and dedication."
One of the evening's key moments was the presentation of the Tourism Monitor 2025, led by economists Ignacio Munyo and Martín Alesina (CERES). The report, titled "Tourism, an opportunity for the growth the country needs," provided updated data and strategic projections for the sector's development.
The evening also featured a space for solidarity: part of the proceeds went to the Pérez Scremini Foundation, in support of its programs providing care and support to children with cancer.
Likewise, Expo Turismo 2026 was launched, which CAMTUR will organize together with the Elis Group in Montevideo, consolidating Uruguay as a regional benchmark for tourism fairs.
Finally, a union award was presented to Fernando Cambón, who was named an honorary member of CAMTUR for his extensive career and commitment to the sector.
