One of the most symbolic projects of Festuris – Gramado International Tourism Fair – the Tree of Integration , celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 with a tribute to Costa Rica. The Central American country will be the special guest at this 37th edition of the event, which will take place from November 6 to 9 at Serra Park in Gramado (RS).
Created in 2015, the project seeks to highlight destinations and companies committed to sustainable tourism. Inspired by the Ibero-American Forum of Tourism Journalists, it has since promoted the planting of Araucaria seedlings—a symbolic tree of southern Brazil—in the vicinity of the fair center where the fair is held.
The araucaria, a native species protected by environmental legislation and considered a symbol of resilience and longevity, can live up to 400 years. Its planting during Festuris represents a gesture of commitment to environmental preservation and the promotion of more responsible tourism. To date, 15 specimens have been planted as part of this initiative.
In 2025, Costa Rica will be honored as a destination in recognition of its sustainable policies, widely recognized globally. The country stands out for its actions in biodiversity protection, clean energy generation, community inclusion, and environmental and social governance (ESG) practices.
During the official ceremony, representatives from Costa Rica will participate in the planting of a new araucaria tree, perpetuating its name on the international stage of sustainability and reinforcing the symbolic value of the Tree of Integration.
“The Tree of Integration Trophy celebrates a decade of commitment to the environment. Honoring Costa Rica on this occasion recognizes a model of sustainable management that inspires the world,” said Eduardo Zorzanello, CEO of Festuris. The planting ceremony is scheduled for November 8 at 2:00 p.m.
