Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.– The Curitiba Municipal Tourism Institute will participate in FIT Latin America from September 27 to 30, with its own booth centered on Curitiba's Christmas, recognized as the largest in Brazil.

In 2024, the Christmas program welcomed 2.2 million visitors and generated nearly R$400 million (USD 7.5 million) in the local economy. By 2025, the event will extend over 43 days with more than 150 free attractions, including carousels, giant trees, shows in iconic parks, and themed settings.

The big highlight will be Disney's arrival in Latin America for the first time with the show "Disney Celebrates an Unforgettable Christmas" at the Positivo Events Center in Barigui Park. There will also be open experiences for the whole family, such as the Magic Park, with immersive, Instagrammable settings, and Disney+ Open Air, with special outdoor screenings.

Curitiba on the route of major events

Beyond Christmas, Curitiba is consolidating its position as a venue for conventions, fairs, and shows. According to the 2024 Tourism Demand Survey, 14.3% of visitors were motivated by events, representing nearly 1.2 million tourists a year.

Growth is sustained: in 2012, they represented 6.4%, in 2018, 5%, in 2022, 12.7%, and in 2024, they reached 14.3%. This evolution demonstrates the sector's impact on the local economy: in 2024 alone, events generated more than R$7 million (USD 1.3 million) in ISS, according to the Municipal Finance Secretariat.

A creative and sustainable urban destination

The strengthening of Curitiba as a tourist destination is a response to the strategy of the Municipal Tourism Institute (IMT). In 2024, for the first time, leisure tourism surpassed business tourism, consolidating the city as a cultural, culinary, and experiential destination.

The main lines of action include:

Creative economy and crafts: the traditional Largo da Ordem Fair, with over 50 years of history and 800 exhibitors, considered one of the most important in Brazil, along with neighborhood fairs that benefit more than 600 local artisans.

Innovation and technology: the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) project, with tools such as the Na Palma da Mão app, the Tourism Line Portal, and integrated data management.

Professional qualifications: The Curitiba School of Tourism, which in its fourth anniversary year has already certified more than 7,000 students in free courses on hospitality, culture, and sustainability. The High School of Creative Trades has added more than 600 courses and 5,000 certifications in five years.

Internationalization and strategic alliances

The presence at FIT seeks to expand alliances, intensify business, and strengthen Curitiba's internationalization. Argentina is a priority market due to its air and land connectivity, and is also among the main sources of international tourists to the city.

With authentic, sustainable, and innovative offerings, Curitiba invites the Argentine public to discover a city that is organized, welcoming, and ready to welcome visitors from around the world.
