For Bianca Pizzolito, events are a direct reflection of the tourism market. "I see events as part of the living organism that is tourism. They show how the market is doing, which destinations are relevant, and what formats and tools are emerging," Pizzolito stated. According to her, participating in different trade shows allows her to observe trends and strengthen connections, fostering new business opportunities.
Strategies for airlines in times of crisis
The executive also addressed the presence of airlines at trade shows. Pizzolito believes that the most effective approach has been to participate in partnership with destinations, rather than having their own booths. "Countries pave the way, and airlines often join as co-exhibitors. It's a proximity strategy that can be expanded with workshops and meetings that strengthen direct connections with the public," she explained.
The power of the press and influencers
Another point raised was the role of the media and travel influencers in the dynamics of tourism. For Pizzolito, the press plays an essential role in providing communication. "The media connects the different players and creates the necessary bridges for everyone to understand the situation. In tourism, this role is structural," he stated.
Influencers, in turn, play a distinct role, more closely linked to the promotion of destinations and products. Pizzolito emphasizes that both can contribute in complementary ways: the media with trend analysis and insights, and influencers with engagement and the promotion of experiences.
Inclusion and sustainability as pillars
Since taking over as WTM Latin America's leader, Pizzolito has been reinforcing the pillars of diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. She emphasizes that this movement is part of the brand's global portfolio, but also part of her personal convictions. "We're adding one more brick. Small actions, like replacing plastic credentials with paper ones, inspire the industry and show that transformation is possible," she commented.
Regenerative tourism in the spotlight
The main theme of WTM Latin America in 2025 will be regenerative tourism, a concept that seeks to restore, reintegrate, and generate positive impacts in communities. For Pizzolito, this discussion broadens the debate on sustainability and community tourism. "Regenerative tourism is a market movement that already exists. Our role is to shed light on these practices and open the way for discussions that inspire healthier paths for the sector," he stated.
Recognition of transformative initiatives
The awards promoted by WTM Latin America, according to Pizzolito, are also part of this effort to encourage responsible tourism. They serve to recognize innovative initiatives and inspire other players to follow suit. "Focusing on these initiatives shows that important practices are taking place and can inspire the market as a whole," said the executive.
