What are your expectations for appearing at FIT again?

Argentina is our number one outbound destination in Latin America, by a wide margin. This year, we expect half a million Argentines traveling to the Dominican Republic, and even more in 2026. We are very grateful to Argentine travelers, the media that promote our country, the operators that work with us, and, of course, to the Dominican companies that join us at FIT to continue generating business.

The Dominican delegation always makes its presence felt at FIT…

That's right. This year we're coming with 24 or 25 companies, including hotels, tour operators, and our national airline, which, along with Aerolíneas Argentinas, have been key to our growth in this market. Without air connectivity and hotel capacity, tourism expansion is impossible.

Exactly how is the country's airport infrastructure progressing?

We are expanding terminals in both the east and the capital, in addition to strengthening Santiago Airport, located in the center of the island. Starting in 2026, Copa Airlines will connect directly from Panama to both Santiago and Puerto Plata, allowing Argentines to discover the north of the country, an ideal region for adventure, water sports, and excursions, beyond traditional destinations like Punta Cana or Samaná Bay.

How diverse is the Dominican tourist offer?

Many people think only of sun and sand, but the Dominican Republic is also mountains, culture, gastronomy, and history. In places like Puerto Plata or Samaná, you can go from enjoying a paradisiacal beach to hiking in the jungle or mountains in 20 minutes. This unique combination makes it especially attractive to Argentines, who often travel the country on multiple destinations.

Does air connectivity favor this multi-destination?

Exactly. We have five international airports in a small country, which allows you to enter through one and leave through another, making for very convenient journeys. The road infrastructure is also excellent, and Argentines are among those who take advantage of this convenience to explore different parts of the country.

If you had to describe a “perfect day” in the Dominican Republic, what would it be like?

For me, it would be exploring the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the first city in the Americas. It's home to the first cathedral, the first government palace, and many museums. It's a completely walkable space, full of history, culture, and cuisine. You can stay in a colonial hotel, visit a replica of one of Columbus's caravels, and end the night dancing in one of our vibrant venues. That, accompanied by our cuisine and our four great pillars: rum, tobacco, chocolate, and coffee, which Argentines love.
