Corey, what are your expectations about participating in FIT Argentina?

As always, it’s a pleasure to be here representing Barbados. FIT allows us to connect with media, trade, and partners in meaningful ways. Argentina is one of our top five markets, and with its economy showing positive signs and travel demand increasing, it remains crucial for us.

How is connectivity evolving between Argentina and Barbados?

COPA Airlines has added a fifth weekly flight to Barbados, plus a dedicated weekly cargo service. This not only increases accessibility for tourists but also supports trade and agriculture between our regions. Improved connectivity reinforces Argentina as a strategic market for us.

Beyond leisure, Barbados is also targeting the MICE segment. What makes the island attractive for this?

We have the infrastructure: the new 480-room Wyndham Hotel, the Hilton, the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, and multiple smaller venues. But beyond facilities, Barbados offers a different experience—you can combine conferences with outdoor activities, gardens, or the beach. That makes us unique compared to traditional destinations.

What are BTMI’s next steps?

Our global strategy is to position Barbados as a hub in the English-speaking Caribbean. Thanks to CARICOM agreements, visitors can come to Barbados and easily continue to Antigua, St. Vincent, or St. Lucia. We’re also in discussions with Argentinian and Latin American carriers about potential new routes, and hopefully in the next year or so, we could see direct flights from this region.

Looking ahead to 2026, what are your priorities?

We want to strengthen relationships with the trade and media. Beyond campaigns, it’s about bringing agents and journalists to Barbados so they can experience the island firsthand and promote it. Relationship-building is our focus.

Finally, what’s your perfect day in Barbados?

I’d start with coffee on my patio, then enjoy our Saturday tradition of pudding and souse. After that, it’s beach time—just three minutes from my house. For lunch, I’d grab Chefette, our favorite fast food (and Rihanna’s too!). The day could include a visit to Harrison’s Cave, a cruise along the west coast, or exploring the countryside. And of course, it always ends with good food, good rum, and good friends.
