Andrés, what are Paraguay's goals and expectations at FIT?
We aim to showcase Paraguay's entire tourist, cultural, and natural offerings. Our stand includes tastings of typical cuisine, such as boribori, Paraguayan soup, and chipa kavure, as well as artistic performances featuring traditional dances. The visual presentation focuses on nature and an immersive experience of the Jesuit missions of Itapúa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are part of the country's star tourist attraction.
How many companies do you come with and what are you trying to achieve?
Seventeen companies are participating, including airlines, hoteliers, operators, and transportation agents. The goal is to build alliances and offer tour packages from Paraguay to all of Latin America.
Paraguay has been in the news for major events. What are your highlights from the year and what are your expectations for 2026?
This year was intense, with events such as the Paraguayan First Division League , the World Rally Championship, and the Pan American Games all successful. Paraguay has the infrastructure and equipment necessary for major cultural and sporting events. The National Tourism Secretariat is committed to strengthening tourism and attracting more international events, benefiting the entire value chain: hotels, restaurants, and other tourism services.
How do you plan to promote Paraguay around the world next year?
We will use characteristic elements of the country, such as the Jesuit missions of Trinidad and Jesús, to offer a sensory experience at the stand and position Paraguay as a tourist destination focused on this star product.
Regarding infrastructure and destinations, what's new?
Asunción has grown as a tourist destination through collaborative efforts between the government and the private sector. The historic center has been renovated with culinary and cultural activities that invite visitors to stay more than one night. Furthermore, Asunción, Ciudad del Este, and Encarnación stand out as shopping tourism destinations, with modern shopping centers, competitive prices, and benefits for foreign tourists.
Finally, how do you evaluate your presence at the FIT?
The fair showcases everything Paraguay has to offer, connects with market players, and projects the country's image as a complete and diverse tourist destination.
