Montevideo, October 6, 2025 – The Uruguayan Ministry of Tourism will participate in ABAV Expo 2025, which will take place from October 8 to 10 at the Riocentro venue in Rio de Janeiro. More than 40,000 industry professionals, including destinations, operators, airlines, and tourism service providers, are expected to attend.

Uruguay will have a specially designed stand to welcome the public and strategic partners, showcasing the diverse range of experiences that consolidate the country as a preferred destination for Brazilian tourists. The delegation will include operators such as Mowii App, Personal Operadora, Daniel Reyes, Enjoy, Solerios, Tekoa, WS Receptivo Uruguay, and Master Turismo.

At the stand, visitors will be able to learn about tourism offerings that include cultural, culinary, wine, wellness, sports, and nature tourism, as well as new infrastructure and connectivity improvements that enhance the experience throughout the country.

Strengthening air connectivity with Brazil is a strategic pillar. New flights by Gol and Aerolíneas Argentinas reinforce key routes, such as São Paulo-Punta del Este and Fortaleza-Montevideo, facilitating access for Brazilian tourists to the country's beaches, cultural destinations, and urban areas.

  • ABAV Expo 2025 will also highlight tax benefits for non-resident visitors, including:
  • Total exemption from VAT on hotel services.
  • Refund of 9 VAT points on essential services such as food and vehicle rentals, when paying with cards issued abroad.
  • Tax Free scheme for tax refunds on purchases from participating businesses.

Participation in ABAV 2025 is strategic, given that Brazil remains one of Uruguay's main source markets. In 2024, the country welcomed 575,940 Brazilian visitors, with an average stay of three days and an average spending of US$546 per person, consolidating Brazil as a key tourism partner.
