Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that between January and August 2025, Mexico received 14 million 87 thousand foreign tourists by air, depending on their country of residence.

Of these, the United States remains the largest source market, with 9.55 million tourists arriving by air, representing a 1.3 percent increase compared to 2024 and a 26.2 percent increase compared to 2019.

"These data confirm that our main source markets maintain a constant interest in Mexico and that our air connectivity, as well as the diversity of experiences we offer, strengthen visitor arrivals," he stated.

According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior's Migration Policy Unit, the more than 14 million tourists represent a 1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and a 10.2 percent increase compared to 2019, when 12 million 784 thousand tourists arrived.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) stated that the profile of those who chose Mexico as a destination shows that the most frequent age ranges were 30 to 44 years (28.7 percent of the total) and 45 to 59 years (23.8 percent).

In second place, in terms of countries of residence, is Canada with 1.864 million tourists, 11.2 percent higher than in 2024 and 16.3 percent higher than in 2019. Meanwhile, 291,811 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom during this period, an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the previous year.

The remaining foreign air tourists arrived from various other countries, totaling 2,381,144 tourists.

“Our task is to continue building sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality tourism, aligned with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo's vision of making tourism—the sector of good news—a generator of Shared Prosperity, whose benefits extend to all those involved in this activity,” he stated.
