Colombia will reach a historic high in non-resident visitors between January and August 2025, with a total of 3,137,210, the highest recorded in the last decade for these months, reaffirming the country's consolidation as one of the most attractive and competitive in the region.

Compared to the same period last year, visitor arrivals increased by 5.3%. Although the growth rate is not as high as in the same months of previous years, the volume achieved represents a historic record for visitors to the country. Indeed, this performance coincides with UN Tourism estimates, which project a global growth of close to 5% for this year.

“Although the figures Colombia is reporting are significant, we are also pleased to see that our visitors are acting as ambassadors for our destinations and are also encouraging more foreigners to choose us as their next destination. In this way, tourism not only boosts our economy but also strengthens and raises awareness of our identity, culture, and biodiversity abroad,” said Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.

In fact, the upward trend is expected to continue between September 2025 and February 2026, with more than 530,000 air reservations to Colombia so far recorded for that period, equivalent to 5.2% annual growth, marking another record high.

Regarding travel reasons, leisure tourism remains the main reason for visiting the country, accounting for 73% of these reservations; followed by trips to meet friends and family, at 11%; group travel, at 8%; and business, at 7%.

"Colombia is now an important destination and meeting point. These results demonstrate that the country maintains a dynamic tourism industry and is projected to be one of the most significant drivers of the economy," explained the union leader.
