One of the most symbolic projects of Festuris – Gramado International Tourism Fair – the Tree of Integration, celebrates 10 years of history in 2025 with a special tribute to Costa Rica. The Central American country is the special guest to leave its roots in the history of the event, which reaches its 37th edition this year and will take place from November 6 to 9 at Serra Park in Gramado (RS).
Created in 2015, the project aims to highlight destinations and companies committed to sustainable tourism. Inspired by the Ibero-American Forum of Tourism Journalists, the initiative has since promoted the planting of 15 Araucaria seedlings—a symbolic tree of southern Brazil—in the vicinity of the fair center where the event is held.
The araucaria is a native species, protected by environmental legislation, and considered a symbol of resilience and longevity. With a life expectancy of up to 400 years, planting it during Festuris represents a tribute and a gesture of commitment to environmental preservation, as well as strengthening more responsible and sustainable tourism.
In 2025, the honored destination will be Costa Rica, in recognition of its outstanding performance in sustainable policies. The country is a global benchmark for its initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity, clean energy, community inclusion, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) best practices.
During the ceremony, representatives from the country will participate in the planting of a new araucaria seedling, sealing their presence in the project and perpetuating Costa Rica's name on the international sustainability scene.
“The Tree of Integration Trophy celebrates a decade of commitment to the environment. Honoring Costa Rica on this occasion recognizes a model of sustainable management that inspires the world,” emphasizes Eduardo Zorzanello, CEO of Festuris. The planting ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on November 8.
