With a positive balance of its activity, Aeropuertos Uruguay celebrates the first anniversary of the air route between Montevideo and the city of Salto, operated by Paraguay's flag carrier Paranair.
This connection, inaugurated on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, represented a milestone for Uruguayan domestic air connectivity, restoring the direct connection between these cities after more than 20 years, enabling travel in less than 45 minutes.
The modern 50-passenger CRJ-200 aircraft began flying twice weekly and then added a third frequency last September in response to high demand. Paranair now operates flights between Carrasco and Salto International Airports every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
September was the month with the highest number of passengers, reaching 637. During this first year of operation, 193 movements and 5,583 travelers used the route.
The main reason for travel was work-related, selected in 40% of responses. Meanwhile, tourism and family matters were each the reason for 26.67% of trips.
The consolidation of this airlift represents a boost to mobility, tourism, and economic activity in the capital of Salto. This was made possible thanks to the work of Aeropuertos Uruguay (Uruguay Airports) to provide Salto with a modern, safe, and sustainable airport that meets international operational safety and service standards.
In this way, the company reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the National System of International Airports (SINAI), bringing the country closer and providing it with more growth opportunities.
