What is Costa Rica's goal at IMEX America and what is the role of North American travelers?
We participated with 24 tourism entrepreneurs from renowned hotels such as Marriott, Andaz, Aya, Westin, and InterContinental, as well as MICE agencies. The goal is to generate business and attract incentive groups, which are our main focus, as well as conferences and corporate events to Costa Rica.
What news can you share about hotel developments and convention centers?
We recently opened two luxury hotels in Guanacaste: a One&Only and a Waldorf Astoria, both geared toward incentive tourism and corporate groups, in a strategic area for this segment.
What programs or incentives does Costa Rica offer to attract events and corporate groups?
We do not offer direct financial incentives, but we do provide government and logistical support: we facilitate site inspections, coordination with convention bureaus, support planning activities, and access to public resources to strengthen event implementation. We also collaborate with organizers to ensure high-quality experiences for participants.
In addition to trade shows, what other activities do you take to attract business?
We conduct trade missions, leading business groups to negotiate directly with potential clients. We participate in international events, purchase meeting agendas, and develop digital promotional campaigns. This allows us to maintain constant and strategic contact with meeting planners and incentive agencies.
What are the plans and strategies for the coming years?
We will continue to participate in FIEXPO and strengthen our promotion to the United States, Canada, and Europe. The goal is to increase the attraction of incentive groups and corporate events, consolidating Costa Rica's presence as a leading destination for meetings and business tourism in Latin America.
