Quito´s nature, culture and gastronomy conquer the world
The most beautiful city in the world shines internationally. Its cultural, natural, and culinary riches captivate visitors and position it as one of the leading candidates to become the "World's Most Desirable City," according to the renowned British magazine Wanderlust Travel Magazine
Among those who value their nature the most are visitors from the United States (61.8%), Canada (12.8%), the United Kingdom (12.2%), Ecuador (8.9%) and Brazil (4.3%).
Of every 100 travelers who choose Quito as their destination, 32% do so for its culture, 22.2% for its nature, and 16.6% for its gastronomy. These three reasons merge in the experiences offered by Ecuador's capital. The city captivates with its traditional neighborhoods, its colonial center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and its unique natural surroundings, such as the Chocó Andino, Ecuador's Seventh Biosphere Reserve.
Of the 22% of tourists who visit Quito attracted by its natural surroundings, 70.9% are completely satisfied with the offerings they find in the Metropolitan District. Their main motivations are ecotourism, birdwatching, and wildlife observation. As Quito Mayor Pabel Muñoz points out:
“It's incredible how, for example, we lose sight of the fact that this is also Quito. We were in the Chocó Andino area. It's a landscape, it's a marvel, it's a paradise for hummingbirds, or quindes, like Quito's emblematic bird.”
This diversity is what Wanderlust highlights, with more than 200,000 readers nominating Quito as the "Most Desirable City in the World." Between January and August 2025, more than 14,500 British tourists visited the city, attracted by its welcoming people, its gastronomy, and its sustainable experiences.
Being recognized as the World's Most Desirable City would mean greater global visibility for Quito, new tourism investment opportunities, and sustained growth in international visitors, consolidating it as a diverse and sustainable destination.
