Mexico City, October 2025. With a global focus on the Amazon as the next host of COP30, Latam Intersect, an integrated communications agency with a presence throughout Latin America, announces a new edition of its InterSección de Valor initiative with the webinar "Key Guide to Coverage of COP30," a space designed to strengthen the capacities of environmental and sustainability journalism in the region.

The upcoming Conference of the Parties will mark a historic milestone: it will be the first time the Amazon region hosts this international climate meeting, and the fourth edition held in Latin America, after Lima, Cancún, and Buenos Aires. The context could not be more challenging: the planet is experiencing a critical phase of the climate crisis, with extreme heat waves, rising sea levels, increasing pollution, biodiversity loss, and accelerated deforestation—phenomena that deepen social inequalities and geopolitical tensions surrounding global climate action.

Given this situation, Latam Intersect will bring together international experts and media leaders to analyze the current challenges of environmental journalism, the opportunities presented by COP30 coverage, and to share best practices and technological resources that facilitate fieldwork during high-impact events.

As part of its preparations, the agency conducted a perception survey among more than 180 Latin American journalists to understand their views on the event. The results show that Brazil (61.5%), Central America (61.1%), and Colombia (60%) consider COP30 a highly relevant issue, while Mexico is the only country with a predominantly neutral stance (31.8%). Meanwhile, Argentina (60%) and Peru (52.6%) rate it as a matter of great interest.

Regarding priority topics for coverage, climate change tops the list in Central America (94.4%), Mexico (90.9%), and Argentina (90%), followed by the use of technology and natural resource management as secondary areas of interest.

The webinar will include a segment sharing experiences from previous coverage, addressing common pitfalls, reporting strategies, and how to maximize the use of the official COP30 agenda.

“With this new edition of our Intersect of Value initiative , we seek to place sustainability at the center of public conversation in Latin America and create a support network among journalists preparing to cover the Conference of the Parties in Belém do Pará. Our intention is to offer them tools and perspectives that foster more conscious, collaborative, and high-impact journalism,” said Claudia Daré, co-founder and director of Latam Intersect.

The virtual meeting serves as a key prelude for those attending COP30, offering not only technical knowledge but also an opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation around coverage of the world's most significant climate event.
