Mara Lezama announces the Fairmont Mayakoba and Moon Palace as venues to host 2026 World Cup national teams

As a result of the management and promotional efforts led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, the destination was chosen to host two national teams that will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, consolidating its position as a strategic location of international relevance.

The delegations, technical staff, family members, media, and logistics personnel will be accommodated at two of the most renowned hotels in the Mexican Caribbean: Fairmont Mayakoba and Moon Palace, the governor announced.

"This achievement is the result of a joint effort and a clear vision: to place Cancún on the world map not only as a top-tier tourist destination, but also as a strategic player in a global event that unites millions of people," said Mara Lezama.

The designation recognizes the quality, connectivity, and tourism infrastructure of Quintana Roo, which will also be the main gateway to the World Cup for thousands of fans, thanks to its air routes connecting to the 16 official venues.

Due to its geographic location, Cancún becomes a key logistical hub for the transportation of teams and visitors during the world's most important sporting event, boosting the local economy and generating new opportunities for the population.

With this distinction, Cancún reaffirms its leadership as a world-class tourist destination and prepares to experience, alongside millions of fans, the great soccer celebration in 2026.
