Luxury tourism continues to grow rapidly. According to Fortune Business Insights' "Luxury Travel Market 2032" report, the market is projected to grow from $2,716.76 billion this year to $4,827.68 billion by 2032, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.56% over the forecast period.
In this segment, Argentine travelers are gaining increasing importance, especially in countries such as Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica, as highlighted by Hyatt Inclusive Collection (HIC) in its recent report, "Luxury Tourism Panorama in Latin America."
"These countries are mature, standardized, and internationally integrated markets in the luxury segment. The combination of air connectivity and investment in high-end hotels, which include world-class dining experiences, sophisticated beach offerings, and personalized attention focused on overall well-being, generates tourists who extend their stays and increase spending, and, above all, who want to return to the destination," explains Antonio Fungairino, Head of Latin America and the Caribbean at HIC.
Similarly, the analysis highlights Brazil and Colombia as emerging markets in the sector, with great potential due to their location and culturally attractive offerings, an aspect highly valued by travelers from around the world today.
“Argentine tourists who seek luxury services primarily gravitate toward beach destinations in the Caribbean and Brazil, with an average stay of one to two weeks. They value offerings that combine exclusivity with well-being, comfort, authentic experiences, safety, and accessibility, especially those geared toward family groups. Unlike other markets where couples or individual trips tend to predominate, travelers from this country prefer to share their vacations with family or groups,” Fungairino emphasized.
According to the report, the potential of destinations depends not only on their location or cultural attractions, but also on how they meet travelers' expectations. Therefore, in addition to identifying growth markets, it emphasizes that the true driving force of luxury tourism lies in the voices of travelers, who set the trends in the sector.
Along the same lines, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) agree that traveler preferences—whether price, sustainability, safety, and authentic experiences—define the tourism agenda and guide the diversification of supply, an essential aspect of destination management.
Profile of the luxury traveler
In this context, the Hyatt Inclusive Collection (HIC) report analyzed the profile of luxury travelers in Latin American destinations: the type of experiences they seek and the level of maturity of each market. The conclusion is clear: luxury tourism in Latin America is no longer about lavishness for its own sake.
“Today, high-end travelers are looking for more than just material comfort: they want a deeper emotional value based on well-being, cultural connection, and sustainability. They prefer destinations that combine exclusivity and sophistication without losing authenticity or human connection,” added Antonio Fungairino.
As the report emphasized, although the luxury map shows nuances in each country, there are three constants that are repeated: well-being, authenticity, and personalized service.
“Luxury tourism in Latin America is no longer measured solely by infrastructure or investment, but by the destinations' ability to respond to what travelers truly seek: well-being, sustainability, and authenticity,” concluded the Hyatt Inclusive Collection document, highlighting that “destinations that manage to integrate these elements coherently will be better positioned to consolidate their growth in the coming years.”
