Surrounded by waters of multiple shades of blue, beaches ranging from white to soft pink, and an incomparable tropical atmosphere, the Bahamas archipelago continues to reinvent itself. With more than 700 islands and islets, 16 of which are tourist destinations, the country attracts couples seeking a romantic getaway, families on vacation, and travelers looking for relaxation. Now, a new wave of investment and openings promises to further elevate the luxury experience on the islands.
Among the new developments, Montage Hotels & Resorts will open its first resort on a private island in the Abacos this year. The resort will feature 50 suites, including overwater bungalows, residences, a complete spa built with sustainable materials, and a fitness center, all spread across approximately 21 hectares.
Scheduled to open in 2026, Six Senses Grand Bahama will feature 70 villas, an oceanfront pool, and a private beach club. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve at Cotton Bay in Eleuthera is expected to open in 2027, with construction beginning this year. The resort will feature 110 guest rooms and 97 Ritz-Carlton Reserve villas, ranging from three to five bedrooms, signature restaurants, a spa, pools, and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II.
Meanwhile, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with Miami-based Yntegra Group, is preparing the Rosewood Exuma in 2028, while the Baha Mar resort plans to add a fourth luxury resort with 350 rooms in Cable Beach, slated to open in 2029. Another highlight of the same year is Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, which will unveil the Bvlgari Resort & Mansions Cave Cay in the Exumas. The project will occupy approximately 89 hectares on a private island, bringing the brand's iconic stamp to the destination.
The long-standing Sandals Emerald Bay will become The Beaches, the island's first all-inclusive family resort, and also the first property of its kind in The Bahamas. In addition to 1.8 km of coastline and a wide range of amenities, it will retain the Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf course and include new multi-bedroom villas, suites, and a kids' camp.
In the culinary world, Atlantis Paradise Island recently welcomed Claudio's Bahamas. Opening in June 2025, the restaurant brings the tradition of the iconic Claudio's in Greenport, New York, known for 150 years, and blends East Coast classics, such as clam chowder and shrimp cocktail, with typical Bahamian delicacies such as conch fritters and chopped lobster. The space has become a new nightlife hotspot with lagoon views, generous cocktails, and a nautical-chic atmosphere.
The Out Islands' infrastructure is also gaining momentum, with the modernization of airports in the Exumas, Cat Island, and Eleuthera, expanding visitor access. These investments reaffirm The Bahamas' status as a global, high-end hospitality destination, where luxury, sustainability, and natural landscapes come together to offer unforgettable experiences.
