After more than two weeks of intensive activities, Chile successfully concluded the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS 2025), demonstrating its position to the world as an international benchmark in nature tourism, sustainability, and authentic experiences.

The event, organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) together with Sernatur and various public and private partners, took place in the city of Puerto Natales, in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region. During the event, held from October 13 to 16, attendees praised the impeccable organization, local hospitality, and the country's natural beauty.

Verónica Pardo, Undersecretary of Tourism, stated, “We are deeply proud of the outcome of this summit. Not only did we meet international standards for organization, logistics, and content, but we also demonstrated that when Chile works together across the public, private, and community sectors, it is capable of producing world-class events. I want to congratulate each of the institutions, technical teams, unions, guides, entrepreneurs, and the host community of Puerto Natales for their commitment and professionalism. The delegates who visited us leave not only amazed by our landscapes, but also with the warmth and seriousness of our country in projecting responsible and forward-looking tourism.”

However, the summit was more than just this last week, as the activities associated with ATWS 2025 began a week earlier with more than twenty national tours through the Pre-Summit Adventures. From Arica to Cape Horn, over 160 delegates—including tour operators, agents, and specialized international media—explored 23 adventure tourism programs to learn about the national tourism offerings and present them to their audiences and future clients.

This first phase showcased the diversity of landscapes, cultures, and experiences the country offers, from the world's driest desert to the magnificent Patagonia. Activities included trekking, cycling, sailing, wildlife watching, local cuisine, and visits to host communities, promoting sustainable tourism with a sense of identity.

The national director of Sernatur, Cristóbal Benítez, expressed his satisfaction with the summit. “We are delighted because we had a large turnout of delegates from around the world, to whom we showcased the diversity of our adventure tourism offerings and innovative products. We were also able to host business roundtables, a very valuable opportunity for our industry, as well as connect with specialized press and influencers. Ultimately, this event was a success, with high expectations among all participants, and we hope this will also help us continue to position our country globally in nature and adventure tourism,” the official concluded.

Puerto Natales, the epicenter of global adventure tourism.
Last week, Puerto Natales welcomed more than 700 delegates from around the world. The main event offered business meetings, conferences, inspiring talks, and networking opportunities that fostered knowledge exchange, partnership development, and new business opportunities.

The second day featured the Day of Adventure, where participants enjoyed 38 unique experiences in the natural surroundings of Patagonia, including excursions in Torres del Paine National Park, kayaking, hiking, and glacier sailing, reaffirming the destination's potential as one of the world's adventure tourism gems.

The Adventure Travel World Summit 2025 exceeded the expectations of organizers and attendees, who agreed that Chile demonstrated excellence, commitment, and authenticity as a host. Ivona Piwonska, founder of Central Park NY Travel, emphasized that the experience exceeded all her expectations: “The meetings were fantastic. I met so many people, not only suppliers but also other travel agents and tour operators from around the world. The Day of Adventure was the highlight of this conference. We had incredible tours: we visited national parks with glaciers, we went hiking, sailing, and spent the day in the nature of Puerto Natales. It's a beautiful place; I cycled everywhere and I loved it. We love Chile, we will return, and we will bring many tourists to the country.”
