The Mexican Government's Ministry of Tourism is moving forward with a coordinated strategy to consolidate the sustainable development of Tulum, one of the most iconic destinations in the Mexican Caribbean. On a second working tour of Cancún and Tulum, the head of the ministry, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, held meetings with local authorities, business leaders, and representatives of the tourism sector to promote orderly and responsible growth.

In compliance with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo's instructions, the strategy involves the collaboration of more than eleven federal agencies, municipalities, and the Quintana Roo State Government. The plan includes actions to strengthen infrastructure, protect natural areas, and ensure balanced urban development.

During her participation in the Cancún Travel Mart, Rodríguez Zamora met with members of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) and the Hotel Association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres, accompanied by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra. During this meeting, the official emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing dialogue with the private sector to develop public policies that strengthen Mexico as a tourism powerhouse.

The secretary subsequently led a meeting in Tulum with representatives from hotels, merchants, service providers, artisans, and tour guides, following up on the agreements established to improve visitor flow and guarantee free access to public beaches. "We are moving forward with a comprehensive strategy that includes urban planning, improved tourism infrastructure, and environmental protection. The goal is to ensure sustainable development for the benefit of the community and those who visit the destination," said Rodríguez Zamora.

She also emphasized that beach access points have been identified and work is being carried out to facilitate their free and responsible use by both residents and national and international visitors. The secretary reiterated that the joint work between the Mexican government, the state government, and the hotel industry will be key to consolidating Tulum as a fairer, safer, and greener destination.

Finally, Rodríguez Zamora presented progress on the tourism strategy for 2026, a year in which Mexico will host major international events, including the World Cup. In this context, he celebrated Cancún as one of the key stops for this sporting event thanks to its connectivity with major host cities in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
