Plantation, Florida – Marriott International, the leading hotel company in the Caribbean and Latin America, brought together leading regional tourism experts to discuss emerging trends, priorities, and habits of Latin American travelers.
The virtual panel "The Latin American Traveler: Trends, Priorities, and the Future of Tourism" featured executives from Marriott CALA, Copa Airlines, PriceTravel Holding, Aeroméxico, the Dominican Republic Tourism Office, and the Mexico City Mixed Tourism Promotion Fund, moderated by journalist Maia Chacra.
Among the key findings, experts highlighted the rise of experiential tourism and the growth of the all-inclusive model as key drivers of new traveler behavior. According to Louise Bang, Chief Commercial Officer of Marriott CALA, "Latin American travelers are looking for comprehensive experiences that connect with their passions: sports, entertainment, gastronomy, or culture."
For his part, Carlos Martínez, of the Mexico City Mixed Fund for Tourism Promotion, emphasized the importance of public-private cooperation in the face of major events, such as the upcoming World Cup, and the development of a broader cultural agenda.
The panelists also agreed on the need to strengthen loyalty and personalization, as well as the key role of technology and connectivity in generating more relevant experiences. From Aeroméxico, Fernando Esqueda highlighted the addition of Wi-Fi throughout the fleet and the expansion of direct routes on the continent.
Meanwhile, Paola Castaño of Copa Airlines and Carolina Pérez of the Dominican Republic Tourism Office highlighted the impact of air travel expansion and the development of immersive experiences, while Rafael Durand of PriceTravel Holding emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in personalizing tourism products.
With this meeting, Marriott International reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation and leading the dialogue on the future of tourism in Latin America.
