Guatemala will be the official host of the next edition of the Central American Travel Market (CATM 2026), the region's leading tourism promotion and marketing event. It brings together international wholesalers, specialized media, and representatives from the public and private tourism sectors under the umbrella of the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA).
Guatemala's selection as the host country reflects its ongoing commitment to tourism excellence and sustainability, as well as its strategic role within regional efforts to strengthen Central America's competitiveness and visibility in key international markets. CATM 2026 will be organized by the Guatemalan Tourism Institute, in collaboration with the Guatemalan Chamber of Tourism.
In 2024, Guatemala closed the year with 3,037,282 international travelers, supported by innovative tourism intelligence strategies based on big data that facilitate decision-making regarding product development and the diversification of its offering. The country also continues to strengthen its air connectivity, with increased frequencies and the opening of new routes from its main source markets, reinforcing its position as one of the main gateways to the countries of the Mayan World and the rest of the Central American region.
With this announcement, Guatemala invites the world to discover its diversity, vibrant culture, and hospitality, in an event that will continue to strengthen Central America's image as a unique, integrated, and sustainable destination.
