The Mexican Caribbean is once again taking center stage on screen with " Los Hilos del Pasado" (The Threads of the Past) , the new drama from Univision and Televisa, filmed in part at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets, a luxury resort belonging to World of Hyatt. The production, which captivated 1.9 million viewers during its premiere in the United States, reinforces the destination's position as a premier filming location.

During filming, the team found Impression Isla Mujeres to be the ideal setting to capture the essence of the story: a resort perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, where contemporary design blends seamlessly with Mexican culture. Its sustainable architecture, Huichol mosaics, and shark sculptures crafted from recycled plastic by artist César Menchaca lent visual authenticity and an environmental message to the production.

The resort, recognized as “The World’s Most Instagrammable Hotel 2025” by Luxury Travel Advisor , boasts 125 suites with private pools, 24-hour butler service, and a high-end culinary experience. Spaces like El Templo, designed by Javier Uma based on principles of sacred geometry, added a symbolic and aesthetic atmosphere to the filming.

Threads of the Past tells the story of Carolina, a renowned fashion designer who, after abandoning her daughter, faces the consequences of her past when fate reunites them. Through a narrative marked by love, forgiveness, and family secrets, the series combines drama and sophistication with a strong visual component.

The series premiere on September 10th positioned Univision as the number one Spanish-language television network, dominating its time slot among viewers aged 18-49 and 18-34. Subsequently, the show aired on ViX on September 26th and on Las Estrellas on October 27th, solidifying its status as one of the most-watched productions of the year.

In addition to its impressive architecture and artistic vision, Impression Isla Mujeres promotes a regenerative tourism model, collaborating with the Saving Our Sharks Foundation on marine conservation projects and sustainable practices that benefit both biodiversity and local communities.

With its fusion of art, luxury, and environmental commitment, the resort has established itself as a benchmark for conscious hospitality and an ideal setting for international productions. The filming of "Threads of the Past" reaffirms the Mexican Caribbean's ability to inspire stories that transcend the screen, projecting the destination as an icon of beauty, culture, and sustainability.
