Sectur highlights sustained growth of Tourism GDP in the second quarter of 2025

According to the INEGI's Quarterly Indicators of Tourism Activity (ITAT), Mexico's Tourism GDP grew 0.4% compared to the first quarter of 2025, and Domestic Tourism Consumption increased 0.8% compared to the previous quarter

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that, according to the results of the Quarterly Indicators of Tourism Activity (ITAT) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Quarterly Indicator of Tourism GDP registered a growth of 0.4 percent compared to the first quarter of 2025 and 0.3 percent compared to the same period of 2024.

“These data confirm that the tourism policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo continues to strengthen the national economy and promote more balanced regional development,” he stated.

He also highlighted that Domestic Tourism Consumption showed a positive performance, with an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the previous quarter, and 1.9 percent annually, reflecting greater mobility and dynamism in domestic tourism.

He added that these results reaffirm the Mexican government's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusion in the development of the country's tourist destinations.

Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that income derived from tourism activity maintains an upward trend thanks to collaboration with state and municipal governments.

He emphasized that the consolidation of domestic tourism reflects a coordinated strategy that promotes investment, training, and diversification of the tourism offerings throughout the country. Furthermore, he stated that collaborative work with the public and private sectors will continue to focus on strengthening domestic consumption and local economies.

“Tourism is a vital force that drives development and unity in Mexico. We will continue working to ensure its benefits reach everyone,” he concluded.
