In a scenario where operational efficiency and sustainability have become key pillars of the aeronautical industry, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a strategic ally to optimize critical processes and minimize the environmental impact of airlines.
“For some time now, at SKY we have been using artificial intelligence models that help us make faster and more accurate decisions in processes related to aircraft maintenance and route optimization, achieving better fuel efficiency during takeoffs and climbs, which are the times of highest consumption. Thanks to this, we have managed to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 10,000 tons per year,” said Mayra Kohler, SKY's Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager.
More efficient routes with AI support
With the aim of reinforcing its environmental commitment, SKY uses a predictive weather system powered by artificial intelligence, capable of analyzing in real time factors such as wind speed, temperature and atmospheric conditions on each route.
With this information, the system recommends modifications to the flight path to make it more efficient, similar to how vehicle navigation systems operate, contributing to a more rational use of fuel.
By combining information on routes, energy consumption, weather conditions and airport infrastructure limitations, the company achieves more efficient flight profiles, reducing unnecessary consumption and reinforcing its commitment to responsible and safe operation.
Predictive maintenance for greater safety and efficiency
Another key advance comes from the Skywise platform, developed by Airbus, which processes millions of data points obtained from sensors and flight logs. This tool makes it possible to detect behavioral patterns and anticipate maintenance needs, avoiding unforeseen interventions and improving the operational availability of the fleet.
Thanks to this predictive management, SKY gains a comprehensive view of the condition of its aircraft, optimizing maintenance times and enhancing the efficiency of resource use.
Thus, with the incorporation of these technologies, SKY reaffirms its commitment to cleaner, more modern and environmentally responsible aviation, aligning its operations with the sector's global decarbonization and sustainability goals.
