“International travel has strengthened, highlighted by the opening of new routes and greater connectivity. Between January and October of this year, more than 1,300 direct weekly flights were recorded, representing an 11% increase compared to the same months last year,” stated Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.
In contrast, domestic traffic reported a decrease of 2.2%, with 23.9 million passengers transported, throughout the first nine months of 2025. This contraction marks a change from the dynamism observed at the end of 2024, when domestic flights had increased by 12%.
In total, between January and September of this year, 42.3 million passengers were transported on domestic air routes, representing a moderate increase of 1.7% compared to the same months of 2024. However, this figure shows a significant slowdown compared to the dynamism recorded in 2024, when the accumulated growth was 15%.
“This behavior may be associated with cost factors, in addition to having relevant implications for domestic tourism and regional economies that depend on air connectivity to attract visitors,” the union leader highlighted.
