Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, celebrated the tenth anniversary of Alaska Airlines' operations, an alliance that has strengthened air connectivity between Costa Rica and the main destinations on the West Coast of North America.
Alaska Airlines' inaugural flight arrived in Guanacaste on November 1, 2015, from Los Angeles (LAX). Since then, the airline has expanded its presence with direct flights from Seattle (SEA) and San Francisco (SFO), establishing itself as a strategic partner for the growth of international tourism in the region.
In these ten years, more than 941,000 passengers have traveled to Guanacaste Airport through Alaska Airlines, reflecting the positive impact the company has had on the flow of visitors and on strengthening cultural and commercial ties between both nations.
During the commemorative ceremony, held on Saturday night, representatives from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, Guanacaste Airport and Alaska Airlines highlighted the sustained collaboration that has boosted quality tourism and positive mobility in the area.
“We are pleased to see the development of air connectivity that Guanacaste Airport has experienced in these 13 years of operation of the new passenger terminal, managed by Coriport and VINCI Airports. The addition of Alaska Airlines as an operator since 2015 represents a significant step that fosters new opportunities for tourism, business, and the development of local communities. We are confident that this commercial and fraternal relationship will continue to strengthen year after year,” stated César Jaramillo, manager of Guanacaste Airport.
Over the past decade, Alaska Airlines has established itself as a key ally in positioning Guanacaste as a preferred international destination, recognized for its natural wealth, modern airport infrastructure, and the hospitality of its "pura vida" culture.
