The Director-General of Meetings Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Salta, Carlos Riobó, highlighted the province's progress in expanding its tourism infrastructure and consolidating new hotel developments. Among the most recent, he cited the Wyndham, already inaugurated, and the Hilton Garden Inn, which is expected to open soon in the San Lorenzo area.
“Salta is adding tourist facilities and infrastructure, and continues to grow in travel agencies, car rental companies, and air connectivity,” said Riobó. According to him, the goal is to guarantee tourists an ever-increasing range of options for activities and experiences.
New attractions and the strengthening of the wine route.
In addition to the hotel industry, the province is investing in the development of new attractions linked to wine tourism, one of the most sought-after segments by the Brazilian market. Riobó explained that more than 40 wineries are part of the Wine Route, with Cafayate standing out as the epicenter of the experience, but also with projects in locations such as Cachi, which integrate lodging and activities at the wineries.
"We continue to add experiences that strengthen the Wine Route, with new wineries and proposals that combine nature, gastronomy and culture," the director emphasized.
Meetings and wedding tourism receives a boost.
To attract new audiences, Salta recently launched a program to promote meetings tourism, offering benefits based on the economic impact of events held in the province. The initiative covers congresses, conventions, fairs, exhibitions, incentive trips, and destination weddings, a segment that has been growing significantly.
“The goal is to professionalize the sector and generate more events, especially weddings and incentive trips, which boost the local economy for several days,” explained Riobó. He highlighted that destination weddings generally last three to five days, bringing together guests who participate in various activities and experiences integrated into the natural landscape of Salta.
Spaces prepared to host large-scale events.
Riobó also highlighted the infrastructure available for those seeking to hold events in Salta. The province boasts over 22,000 square meters of covered spaces, specially designed for conventions and corporate meetings.
“We are talking about venues designed for events, both within hotels and in halls and rural properties that are expanding their offerings,” the director explained. In addition to traditional spaces, farms and wineries have stood out for offering environments that combine charm and functionality.
Convention centers integrated with nature.
The Salta Convention Center remains the destination's main venue, with 11,000 square meters of covered space and a total area of 32 hectares. However, the province now also has the Cafayate Convention Center, located in the heart of the Wine Route.
The venue can accommodate up to 700 people and offers a unique experience: "Imagine holding a meeting while enjoying coffee overlooking the vineyards," described Riobó. According to him, the destination maintains competitive rates in the country, with excellent cost-benefit per square meter in event spaces.
Between November 6th and 9th, Festuris took place at Serra Park, in Gramado (RS), with the theme "Reimagining tomorrow."
