Avianca became the first airline in Latin America to receive Aequales Certification , awarded by the leading equity and inclusion consultancy in the region. This recognition validates the policies, processes, and actions implemented by the company to promote a work culture where all people feel respected, valued, and authentic.

The certification reflects Avianca's efforts to foster an inclusive and equitable organizational environment, strengthening its commitment to talent development under equal opportunity conditions. Among the initiatives that support this achievement are:

Parity in executive positions: currently, 48% of executive positions are held by women.

More women pilots in the airline industry: In 2023, Avianca graduated its first all-female pilot training course and launched the "The Sky Belongs to Them" scholarship program , offering full funding, 20 places, and job opportunities within the company. Today, more than 150 women pilots are part of its team.

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace: alliances such as the one established with Best Buddies allow the integration of people with cognitive disabilities in customer service areas, Avianca Cargo and Deprisa.

Pay equity: the company applies the Hay Group methodology to ensure that compensation is based on job responsibilities and not gender.

Comprehensive well-being: programs such as Well , Families on Board and Day Care offer support in physical, mental and financial health, support in maternity and paternity, breastfeeding rooms and actions to prevent gender and domestic violence.

Accessibility: Through Avianca Accesible , the airline implements protocols, training, and infrastructure improvements to offer inclusive travel experiences for people with disabilities.

“Being the first airline in Latin America to obtain Aequales certification confirms that at Avianca we continue to build a culture where everyone feels welcome, heard, and valued. This recognition reflects our commitment to creating authentic spaces where everyone can grow and contribute their best, because when companies care for and listen to their people, we soar higher,” stated María Carolina Cortés , Vice President of Corporate Communications and Reputation at Avianca.

With this certification, Avianca consolidates its leadership in the region not only for its aviation history, but also for its human resource management model, which promotes equity, diversity and inclusion as essential pillars of its business sustainability.
