The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, located on Merritt Island, just minutes from Cape Canaveral and less than an hour from Orlando, presents a new offering for space and science enthusiasts: ATX Plus, a program that allows visitors to experience real NASA astronaut training and enjoy all the attractions of the space center in the same day.
The new ATX Plus admission combines the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) program with full access to the complex, offering a complete day that blends technology, learning, and exploration. Participants train like astronauts in the morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and then tour the facilities until closing time. The ticket is valid only for the selected date and is non-transferable and non-reprogrammable.
Astronaut Training: Simulations of Missions to Mars.
During the Astronaut Training Experience, visitors face simulations that replicate the real challenges of space missions, with a special focus on training for missions to Mars. The program allows participants to float in microgravity environments, drive a vehicle on the Martian surface, and even walk on the Red Planet using virtual reality.
Highlights include:
Microgravity Simulator: reproduces reduced gravity conditions to perform space tasks.
Land and Drive on Mars: challenges participants to maneuver a rover over rough terrain.
Walk on Mars: offers a virtual immersion that allows you to explore the Martian landscape with realism and scientific accuracy.
Each experience has been designed by Kennedy Space Center experts to ensure safety, learning and entertainment, offering a unique insight into NASA's space operations.
Full access to the space complex.
In addition to training, the ATX Plus program includes full admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where some of the most iconic artifacts of space exploration are on display: the Space Shuttle Atlantis, the Saturn V rocket, and numerous interactive exhibits showcasing NASA's scientific and technological advancements.
Visitors can also tour the Heroes & Legends Exhibit, attend screenings at the IMAX Theater, visit the Rocket Garden, and learn firsthand about the history of the astronauts who shaped the space age.
Details and Participation Requirements:
ATX Plus is open to individuals aged 10 and older; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Due to its technical and interactive nature, a basic understanding of English is required to follow the program instructions.
Some activities have height, weight, and health restrictions to ensure the comfort and safety of all participants. The admission price is USD 217 plus tax.
An Educational Journey Beyond Earth:
ATX Plus transforms a visit to the Kennedy Space Center into an educational and inspiring experience, where participants become, for a day, the protagonists of a space mission.
More than just a tourist attraction, the program represents a unique opportunity to understand NASA's work, combine science with entertainment, and experience the excitement of human exploration beyond planet Earth.
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex thus continues its mission of bringing the history and future of space exploration closer to visitors from around the world, inspiring new generations to look to the stars and continue exploring the infinite.
