AACO, SITA, and Amadeus have joined forces to explore how data and technology can bring greater accuracy and transparency to aviation sustainability efforts. This initiative represents a concrete step toward empowering airlines and passengers to make informed decisions based on the environmental impact of air travel and to build the trust needed for meaningful climate action.
Recognizing the critical importance of this challenge, two of the leading aviation technology providers are collaborating. The partnership combines SITA Eco Mission, which uses real-world aircraft performance and operational data to deliver accurate emissions and fuel consumption calculations, with Amadeus Travel Impact Suite, which aggregates carbon emissions calculations from multiple sources and recognized standards. Together, they provide the ecosystem with detailed emissions information so travelers can make more informed decisions. The shared goal is to demonstrate how accurate data can support sustainable travel decision-making and facilitate climate action, such as carbon offsetting.
“We are proud that Amadeus and SITA have joined forces to offer solutions that help the aviation industry and its customers optimize operating costs while engaging passengers in sustainability through accurate, data-driven transparency,” said Abdul Wahab Teffaha, AACO Secretary General. “As two of the industry’s most trusted partners, Amadeus and SITA will deliver cutting-edge solutions, and their collaboration will play a key role in advancing environmental sustainability and strengthening the bond between airlines and their customers.”
“This alliance reflects the spirit of collaboration that our industry needs,” said Yann Cabaret, CEO of SITA for Aircraft. “Trust between passengers and airlines begins with transparency. By combining Amadeus’s technology solutions with our operational data, we are exploring how verified information can give airlines and passengers greater confidence in the presentation of sustainability-related data. It is an important first step that demonstrates how key industry players can come together to drive real progress.”
“This collaboration adds another reliable source of emissions calculations, ensuring the industry has access to relevant, accurate, and transparent sustainability data. By exploring how verified operational data can be integrated into our open and partner-neutral Travel Impact Suite, we aim to help airlines, travel agencies, corporations, and travelers better understand the environmental impact of every flight. This empowers them to make more informed decisions about which flights to book or what climate actions to take, and to report consistently across all channels,” said Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President of the Travel Unit and Managing Director for EMEA at Amadeus.
This initiative demonstrates how linking data, operations, and passenger engagement can help turn sustainability goals into credible results. It also supports airlines as they navigate an increasingly complex and costly regulatory environment, highlighting the power of collaboration to address shared challenges. In a world where passengers demand greater transparency, this collaboration demonstrates how collective innovation can propel aviation toward a more transparent and sustainable future.
