Arajet, the Dominican flag carrier, increased its frequencies to New York–Newark (EWR), operating two daily flights since November 19, highlighting its consolidation and sustained growth in the US market.

The airline explained that they are maintaining their usual morning frequency, departing from Santo Domingo at 6:10 am and arriving in Newark at 9:30 am, and have added an evening frequency, departing at 7:10 pm and arriving at 10:30 pm, offering greater flexibility for business travelers, tourists, family visits and connecting flights.

Arajet pointed out that this decision responds to the high seasonal demand in the New York market, where the company has consistently reported occupancy rates above 85%.

The airline also reported that in October it was again the third busiest airline in the country in terms of passenger traffic, with a total of 115,536 passengers transported, not including connections, bringing the total to over 130,000 in that month.

According to data published on the Civil Aviation Board's website, Arajet transported 8.8% of the passengers who flew through Dominican airports in October, continuing its upward trend compared to other international airlines. Arajet also accounted for 90% of the passengers transported between Dominican airlines, with Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and Medellín being the airline's busiest routes.

Strengthening air connectivity has been key to the boom in Dominican tourism; according to official figures, between January and September 2025 the Dominican Republic received 6,575,073 visitors by air, consolidating the country as a leader in the Caribbean and demonstrating the importance of expanding routes to major source markets such as New York.

According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Arajet has transported more than one million passengers in 2025, and projects to close the year with 1,500,000 travelers transported, including connecting passengers, a milestone for an airline with just over three years of operation.

“We are committed to offering a safe service, where the passenger receives the greatest value for their money; New York is a key market for Dominicans and for tourism, especially at this time when families long to get together to celebrate the Christmas holidays,” said Victo Pacheco Méndez, CEO & Founder of the airline.

The new schedule of two daily flights makes Arajet one of the most competitive options for traveling between Santo Domingo and New York, reaffirming its mission to democratize the skies and expand connectivity between the Dominican Republic and the world.
